This is a slightly run-down super sentō right outside Yasu station. It seems to be an indepedent operation, but the layout is very similar to many Gokurakuyu baths. When you walk through the door you walk straight into a few rows of shoe lockers. Just past there is a set of vending machines selling tickets for entry and all accessories you can think of, including towels, etc. Soap and shampoo aren't sold since they are supplied for free in the washing area. Besides this the entrance hall houses the front desk, a battery of massage chairs, a hair dresser, a diner and a massage facility.
After walking through door through the tatami matted changing area I quickly get changed and move on to the bathing area. After scrubbing myself clean I start looking for the sauna. The sauna is quite high and has stair-like seating facing a television. The highest seating level quickly gets too hot for me and I need to cool down in the cold bath. The back to the sauna for a little more boiling heat. On my way out for the second time I bump into another sauna. After cooling down in the cold bath I go in and discover it's a salt sauna. I rub some salt on my body and sit sweating for another 10 minutes or so. I've had enough of the heat, so I rinse the salt off and veure outside to have a look at the baths there. Outside I find a herb bath the justays herbs on the sign that's meant to explain the kind of herbs. It's about the same green as lime cordial, but smells not unpleasant. Next to the herb bath I find another bath and after studying the sign for a little while I discover the water in this bath contains a lot of calcium and comes from a natural hot spring. This bath partly runs into a hole in the wall that's meant to look like a cave. Inside the steam from the water is captured under the roof providing some steam experience for those who enjoy that. After this it's time to rinse off, towel off and get dressed again.
It was not the newest or best equiped super sentō I've seen, but it surely does the job if you're looking for some relaxation. The sentō is right outside the east exit of Yasu station on the JR Biwako line. Entry costs ¥550 for non-members or ¥500 for members.
